I am not sure on what book to write about as the one we have studied in class is a difficult one to identify language features of. Are there any good short stories which are really short and relevant with society’s issues today and does it have easily identifiable language features such as simile, personification, rhetorical question etc.

An interesting question. You don’t have to mention language features if you are answering a question on character or setting or conflict or main ideas. The language features in the written response are asked for in relation to poems more. Perhaps you could re think the novel? If you have been studying it you probably know it quite well.
Have a go at answering a question with it and see how it goes.
