I am usure as to how I am supposed to make an solve an equation where the variable is the exponent

(i) First, we substitute 11 to D:

then, we divide both sides of the equation by 1000:

after that we will take an 11th root of both sides of the equation and re-arrange equation to solve it for R:

(ii) In this question we need to make the D subject of the equation. First, we can divide both sides of the equation by 1000:

Next, we can take logarithms of both sides of the equation:

Then, we will apply formula of logarithm of the exponent:

and finally, will divide both sides of the equation by log(1+R/100):

If left sides of the equations are equal (both are D), then we know that the right sides of the equations must be equal too:

Now, we can re-arrange equation by cross-multiplication:
